A blog about Lindsborg

Welcome to Lindsborg Town Talk, your source for news about upcoming events and activities in Lindsborg.

This is a special day for art lovers throughout central Kansas. Studio Lindsborg, the 10th art gallery in Lindsborg, is holding its grand opening, today, March 22nd. The studio will feature works by Lindsborg visual artists and a couple of artists will use the location as a working studio. The public is invited to a reception for the studio’s featured artists from 2-4pm this afternoon. Studio Lindsborg is located on north Main Street in Lindsborg and is a spin-off of the Small World Gallery.

Also happening today is the Lindsborg Easter Egg Hunt, for children aged 10 and younger, held in the north Park and starting at noon. Families are invited to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy after the hunt, and parents are encouraged to bring their cameras in order to take pictures of their children posing with the Easter Bunny.

This is the final weekend of the Messiah Festival of Music and Arts in Lindsborg. The festival began on Palm Sunday and runs through Easter Sunday, March 23rd.

Visitors to the Messiah Festival will have two chances to view the theater production, “Las Casas, the Tears of the Indians”, at 2pm and 7:30pm, on Saturday, at the Burnett Center.

The festival week concludes on Easter Sunday afternoon. At 3pm, at Presser Hall, the Lindsborg Oratorio Society performs Handel’s Messiah.

Lindsborg is well known for its Swedish heritage, and that tradition continues on Tuesday, March 25th, with the first annual Vaffledagen, also known as Waffle Day. In Sweden, Vaffledagen marks the feast of the Annunciation, 9 months before Christmas. The Swedish Country Inn, downtown Lindsborg, will follow this Swedish tradition by serving waffles and a full Swedish breakfast buffet from 7 until 10am on March 25th. Swedish costumes are optional.
