A blog about Lindsborg

Welcome to Lindsborg Town Talk, your source for news about upcoming events and activities in Lindsborg.

This Sunday, January 13th, folks will have an opportunity to take a tour of Lindsborg’s City Hall. The City Hall Open House is from 2-4pm and will be hosted by city council members and city staff. Visitors will be able to review tentative plans for the remodeling of City Hall as well as view areas needing repair. Refreshments in the style of King Knut Day will be served.

Also on Sunday, Broadway RFD is holding its annual meeting at 4pm in the Community Room at Bank of America. All current members, as well as anyone interested in becoming a member, are encouraged to attend. There’s always room for folks interested in performing as well as those who like to work backstage, so this is your chance to participate in the state’s longest running outdoor theater!

In the visual arts world, the Red Barn Studio continues its fine tradition of bringing artists to Lindsborg to stay and work as part of their Artist in Residence program. Kicking things off this year is David Friday, who will be in residence through January 20th. David is a painter with a broad array of interests; during his time at the Red Barn he will focus on painting his interpretation of Lester Raymer’s circus performers. A reception for David will be held on Saturday, January 19th, at 7pm at the Red Barn Studio.

If it’s winter, it must be time to start getting ready for this year’s annual performance of Handel’s Messiah, performed on both Palm and Easter Sunday. Singers of all voice ranges are invited to join the chorus, which holds its first practice on Sunday, January 27th, at Presser Hall on the Bethany Campus. Please contact the Music Department at Bethany College for more information. Their phone number is (785) 227-3380, ext. 8235.

Congratulations are in order for Lindsborg resident and renowned National Geographic photographer Jim Richardson. He’s been selected as the 2008 Kansan of the year by the Native Sons and Daughters of Kansas. Congratulations Jim!

Till next time, this is Mike Rodriquez with Lindsborg Town Talk.
