A blog about Lindsborg

Listen to the podcast of the Lindsborg Update from the 14th of April 2006 simply by clicking the previous link. The Lindsborg Update is a podcast of a weekly bit I do on a local radio station, KSAL 1150AM. The Lindsborg Update usually airs on Fridays, a couple of minutes after 12:30 PM. Btw, if you use an RSS aggregator, and iTunes, you can automatically load this podcast into iTunes from within the aggregator.

As I work from a script, to ensure I don’t miss key details such as dates, times or locations, I’m posting the Lindsborg update for folks who would rather read than listen to the updates. It’s in the extended entry section below.

Hello everyone,

It’s great to be back, and just in time for a very busy weekend.

Lindsborg’s celebration of the Messiah Festival concludes this weekend with a full slate of performances. This evening, starting at 7:30, Bach’s St. Matthew Passion will be performed at Presser Hall on Bethany Campus.

Tomorrow, at 2pm and 7pm, there will be performances of Barabbas at the Burnett Center on the Bethany Campus.

The 125th annual performance of the Messiah, the longest continous run in North America, concludes on Sunday. Handel’s Messiah, performed by the Bethany Oratorio Society Orchestra and Chorus, will be performed starting at 3PM at Presser Hall.

And if you live in Lindsborg or will be visiting on Saturday, be sure to drop by the Johnson Rolander Agency on north Main St between 9am and noon. There you will find many scrumptious baked goods for sale as part of a fund-raising drive by the Lindsborg Swedish Dancers. Word is that they sell out every year, so get there early for the best selection!

And while you’re there, you will have the opportunity to visit the recently re-opened Blacksmith Shop on north Main. They feature Kettle Korn popcorn as well a wide variety of other food and craft items that highlight the talents of Kansans.

Looking ahead to next week, Saturday, April 22nd is the 10th Annual Artists’ Studio Open House. This annual event runs from 11am to 5pm and during this time many of the local area artists will be hosting an Open House at their studios. Flyers listing the studios will be available in downtown Lindsborg.

Till next week, this is Mike Rodriquez with the Lindsborg update.
