A blog about Lindsborg

Welcome to Lindsborg Town Talk, your source for news about upcoming events and activities in Lindsborg.

Today, at lunchtime, it’s your chance to enjoy some fine traditional Swedish cuisine. Today marks the date of the annual Lutfisk Dinner, hosted by the Lindsborg Senior Center on south Main Street in Lindsborg. From 11:30 am until 1pm you can enjoy a fine Swedish meal of lutfisk, potato sausage and boiled potatoes with all the trimmings. Lunch includes a homemade dessert as well. A free will donation is requested.

The Red Barn Studio continues its fine tradition of bringing artists to Lindsborg to stay and work as part of their Artist in Residence program. David Friday is in residence through January 20th. David is a painter with a broad array of interests; during his time at the Red Barn he will focus on painting his interpretation of Lester Raymer’s circus performers. A reception for David will be held tonight, Saturday, January 19th, at 7pm at the Red Barn Studio.

Everyone is invited to the Lindsborg Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner. The event will be held at 7:00PM at the Pihlblad Memorial Union, on the Bethany campus, Monday, January 28th. Folks will have the opportunity to meet members of the 2008 chamber board and hear how the Chamber is Diggin’ In! In addition, Bethany College President Dr. Edward F. Leonard III, will be the featured speaker. Tickets are 13$ and must be purchased by January 23rd. Contact the Lindsborg Chamber of Commerce at 785-227-3706 for more details.

If it’s winter, it must be time to start getting ready for this year’s annual performance of Handel’s Messiah, performed on both Palm and Easter Sunday. Singers of all voice ranges are invited to join the chorus, which holds its first practice on Sunday, January 27th, at Presser Hall on the Bethany Campus. Please contact the Music Department at Bethany College for more information. Their phone number is (785) 227-3380, ext. 8235.
