A blog about Lindsborg

Hello everyone,

Eugene Fleharty will be at the Courtyard Gallery for
the “Third Saturday, Meet the Artist” event tomorrow, May 19, 2007. Eugene is an award winning woodcarver of life-like American waterfowl decoys, shore birds and song birds. His love of nature is evident in the painstaking detail with which he carves each feather and applies acrylic color to faithfully represent the species.

Be sure to visit the Sandzen Gallery on the Bethany Campus while you are in town. In addition to their many fine ongoing exhibits, from now through May 27th you will want to catch the The 109th annual Midwest Art Exhibition, featuring paintings by a number of area artists.

May is Beef Month, so while you are in town shopping and visiting galleries this weekend, be sure to drop by Scott’s Hometown Foods. There, on Saturday the 19th, from 11am until 1pm, Scott’s is holding a Burger Bash! Come and celebrate Beef Month with an all-beef burger, chips and soda, all for just one dollar!

And if you’re one of those who enjoys a hands-on approach to the arts, you’re in luck! In early June the Red Barn Studio is offering two workshops. On June 2nd, from 9am until 4pm, Linda Baranski will teach her very popular “You Can Cover Anything in Mosaics” workshop. On Saturday, June 9th, Pam Rees will hold a workshop, “Beginning Linoleum Cut Print Making” from 1-4pm. Contact the Red Barn Studio at 227-2217 for more information.

Looking ahead, be sure to mark your calendars for the weekend of June 16th as Midsummers returns to Lindsborg. This annual celebration to welcome summer is an extremely popular holiday in Sweden, and we’ve been holding our own celebration in Lindsborg for the past 31 years. At Midsummers you will have the chance to enjoy a variety of Swedish dances, review the arts and crafts fair and chow down on a large selection of goodies. There is an extensive children’s program as well, so plan on bringing the entire family! More information is available at midsummersday.org.

Till next week, this is Mike Rodriquez with the Lindsborg update.
