A blog about Lindsborg

The Midsummer’s publicity postings in the form of press releases, etc. will now be posted at the Midsummer’s Day blog. The press release announcing this year’s celebration the weekend of June 16th has just been posted and you’re invited to check it out!

Hello everyone,

It’s a busy time at the Small World Gallery in downtown Lindsborg. On Sunday, March 11th, co-owner Jim Richardson, a highly regarded National Geographic photographer, is hosting a special show. From 2 to 5pm everyone is invited to drop by and see a show of photographs from the April 2007 issue of the National Geographic. The images focus on the Kansas Flint Hills.

And on Friday, March 16th, nationally recognized 6 and 12 string guitarist Chris Proctor will be performing at the Small World Gallery. The concert starts at 8pm, and tickets are 10$ at the door.

Tonight, March 9th and tomorrow, the 10th, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a performance of “The Man Who Came to Dinner”, performed by members of the Smoky Valley High School Drama department. The “Man Who Came to Dinner” will be performed at 7:30pm at the Smoky Valley High School Auditorium.

On Sunday, March 11th, the Svensk Hyllningsfest Committee is holding a fund-raising event in the form of a Swedish Pancake feed. Pancakes and more will be served from 8am until 2pm in the Bethany Church Parish Hall. Donations of 5$ will help defray the costs of this year’s Hyllningsfest celebration.

Last year the Lindsborg Swedish Dancers raised money and provided food and entertainment with a special Psalm Sunday traditional Swedish Meal. On April 1st, 2007, they will once again provide a Psalm Sunday meal accompanied by music and dance. Traditional Swedish food will be served at 2 seatings, one at 11:45am and the other at 1pm. The meals will be served at the Messiah Lutheran Church, located on the Bethany Campus, and tickets may be purchased at the Bank of America in Lindsborg.

Hello everyone,

If you’ve got a shoebox full of old family photos that you’ve always intended to “do something with”, then you might want to come to Lindsborg on March 3rd. The Mc Pherson? County Old Mill Museum is offering a special photo workshop starting at 9:30 on Saturday, March 3rd. This fun and informative workshop will offer new ways to organize and use photos for a variety of purposes, including genealogy, scrapbooking, family reunions and more. Contact the museum at 227-3595 for more information and to register.

Also on Saturday, March 3rd, is the first annual wine tasting fundraiser for the Lindsborg Chamber of Commerce. “A Simple Tasting” will be held this Saturday from 3-6pm at the Rosberg House Events Center on north Main St. in Lindsborg. The sampling of wines, beers and spirits will be accompanied by foods that enhance the flavor of each beverage. Tickets are 18$ and may be purchased at the Lindsborg Chamber of Commerce.

On Sunday, March 4th, come to the Sandzen Gallery for reception honoring Lindsborg author Ann Parr. The reception runs from 2-3 pm and will feature readings from a children’s book written by Lindsborg middle school 7th and 8th graders with assistance from Ann Parr. The book was written in the first 3 weeks of January, is now available in hardbound form and will be on display during the reception.

And mark your calendars for March 8th, 9th or 10th; that’s when you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a performance of “The Man Who Came to Dinner”, performed by members of the Smoky Valley High School Drama department. The “Man Who Came to Dinner” is scheduled from March 8th through the 10th, at 7:30pm at the Smoky Valley High School Auditorium.
