A blog about Lindsborg

Listen to the podcast of the Lindsborg Update from the 10th of March 2006 simply by clicking the previous link. The Lindsborg Update is a podcast of a weekly bit I do on a local radio station, KSAL 1150AM. The Lindsborg Update usually airs on Fridays, a couple of minutes after 12:30 PM. Btw, if you use an RSS aggregator, and iTunes, you can automatically load this podcast into iTunes from within the aggregator.

As I work from a script, to ensure I don’t miss key details such as dates, times or locations, I’m posting the Lindsborg update for folks who would rather read than listen to the updates. It’s in the extended entry section below.

Hello everyone,

First, a shout out to the Smoky Valley High boys baseketball team for making it to the state playoffs. Great job guys!

And speaking of the high school, tonight and tomorrow night, March 10th and 11th, Smoky Valley students present a comedy entitled Rest Assured. The play will be performed at the high school and performances begin at 7:30pm. Again, that’s tonight and tomorrow night.

The Red Barn Studio, 212 South Main Street, has announced their artist in residence program for March. Eric Abraham will be working in the south studio of the Red Barn through March 30th . Eric’s present emphasis is clay, primarily porcelain. During his residency at the Red Barn Eric will be working on painting illustrations for a book that he has written. He will also be offering a porcelin workshop; contact the Redbarn for details.

Finally, it’s not too early to begin planning to attend Lindsborg’s annual Midsummer’s Day Festival. Held the 3rd weekend in June, this years event promises to be very special! This year not one, but two dance groups from out of the area will be visiting and performing at Midsummer’s.

From Mora, Sweden, the Mora Folkdanslag, a Swedish Folk dance group will be joining the celebration. Also performing will be the Leikarring, which is a Folk dance group whose members belong to the Norwegian Society of Texas. Of course, the high school group Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers and the adult Lindsborg Folkdanslag dancers will also be performing the weekend of Midsummer’s. Midsummer’s Day is celebrated on June 17th this year; hope everyone can make it!

Till next week, this is Mike Rodriquez with the Lindsborg update.
