A blog about Lindsborg

Listen to the podcast of the Lindsborg Update from the 16th of February 2006 simply by clicking the previous link. The Lindsborg Update is a podcast of a weekly bit I do on a local radio station, KSAL 1150AM. The Lindsborg Update usually airs on Fridays, a couple of minutes after 12:30 PM. Btw, if you use an RSS aggregator, and iTunes, you can automatically load this podcast into iTunes from within the aggregator.

As I work from a script, to ensure I don’t miss key details such as dates, times or locations, I’m posting the Lindsborg update for folks who would rather read than listen to the updates. It’s in the extended entry section below.

Hello everyone,

It looks like this holiday weekend is a quiet one in Lindsborg. There are no major events planned, but of course there’s plenty to do in Lindsborg any time you visit. From shopping to art galleries to museums, it’s always a good time to visit Lindsborg.

Next weekend promises to be busy, especially on Saturday, the 25th of February!

First, starting at 7am and lasting till 2pm is the annual Lindsborg Kiwanis Pancake Feed! Besides pancakes, sausage and a drink are included in the meal. The cost is only 3 dollars and 50 cents, and children under 6 are free when accompanied by an adult. The pancake feed is held at the Bethany Lutheran Church Education Hall, in the lower level.

Next, the area’s Swedish genealogy research group will hold their quarterly meeting. Starting at 10am in the Martin Luther room at Bethany Lutheran Church, the program will cover new CD databases and web sites that may be useful in tracing Swedish ancestry. More information is available from the McPherson County Old Mill Museum in Lindsborg.

Saturday evening concludes with a presentation by renowned National Geographic photographer and Lindsborg resident Jim Richardson. He will be sharing the story of The Celtic Realm, which will appear in the March issue of the National Geographic. The event, held at the Small World Gallery on north Main street in Lindsborg, starts at 8pm, and admission is free. Due to limited seating, please call 785-227-4442 to reserve your seats. You can also catch Jim’s presentation on Friday the 24th, same time and place.

Remember, that’s all on next Saturday, February 25th, in Lindsborg.

till next week, this is Mike Rodriquez with the Lindsborg update.

    Hi,

Thanks for writing. I’m passing your message to some folks around town; who knows? Maybe something will work out so you can come visit our lovely little town.
